NRI has several mechanisms to obtain and share state-of-the-art knowledge and information through convening specialty meetings, trainings, or workshops on relevant topics of interest to the public behavioral health system. These topics have included: managed care and behavioral health services; research methodologies; children’s services issues; qualitative research methods; multi-system relationships; Medicaid utilization; evidence-based practice implementation; and outcome and performance measurement development. More recently topics have focused on the application of data to inform policy and legal issues such as Olmstead lawsuits facing the States. In addition to meetings and specialty workshops, NRI held one of the only national conferences devoted to services and system research in the mental health field. A national symposium is currently in development devoted to current and future behavioral health research with potential topical areas focused on specialty populations, ACA implementation, Olmstead and other state legal issues, HIEs, and EHRs.
